FUNKISM

For the inspired, unfazed by the past, moved by the present, and seeking the future.

Something cosmically wonderful to view and breathe your ears into. Mane Mane’s “Twinkl Sr”. Drench in the fractal dance moves. Video directed, shot and made by Brooklyn’s very own Aaron Katsnelson.

Mike Dehnert has this magnificent ability of giving the best of his German culture. After releasing EPs and giving away plenty of remixes, Framework comes up and unifies a clear coherent techno from the beginning till the end. Infix will take you down (to the party) and free from work, before we go deeper inside the dark and masculine side of Framework Quatro Klartext and Teilfolge. Inversion kills it all with these bells and reaches the peak of the album. Palindrom will take you up and down like the russian mountains with it being 11 minutes long. Whilst Deep Detroit’s voice narrates the end of the world… oh god this album is too good.

Peverelist

This is pure fire. And I don’t mean fire in the get smashed on Four Loko and rock out to brostep kinda way. No, this is tense, hectic, dramatic, and just pushes all the right buttons. Peverelist’s first release on Hessle Audio is about as fragmented as it gets with disjointed percussion and a raveish synthline making sweet love on top of a stuttering synth. But really, don’t dissect this. Just dance, get messed up, whatever gets you going.

The masters from Stockholm released this unsigned moody track a couple of weeks ago. Oh, and in case you didn’t know, the LP is out!

Veteran grime producer Terror Danjah helps to spark even more interest in his new label Hardrive Records by showcasing his exciting new signing Lev Nv. Another skilled female producer starting to pave a route that will most likely follow other talents such as Mz Beats, Flava and Ikonika.

My favourite track from Lev Nv is ‘Broken Sunrise’. A looped track that you can’t get away from. A very deep take on dubstep coupled together with an enchanting vocal and violin with an air of Japanese eclipsed sounds.

‘Let Him Go’ featuring samples from Lauryn Hill (who is incidentally making a new album) that have been fixed between sleek crusty snares and a smooth dub bassline which have been tied down by the melodic keys of a piano.
